Care & Cleaning of Surface Tops Made with Caromastone

Products made from Caromastone are stain resistant. The finished products are ideal for counter tops, vanities and other surfaces subject to the hazards of moisture and heavy wear. Even coffee, ink or other stains will not harm the surface. No special cleaning products are needed to keep the product looking great all day in and out.

Normal Cleaning:
Caromastone surfaces can be wiped clean with a damp cloth or sponge and mild detergents such as Fantastik® or 409®. On a matte finish you can use a mild abrasive cleaner like Bon Ami® or Soft Scrub®. Periodically it may be necessary to go over the entire surface with an abrasive cleaner or a wet Scotch Brite® to maintain a uniform finish.

Spills and Stains:
While most spills can be removed with the normal cleaning techniques, some spills and stains such as tea, food dye and fruit drinks may require more aggressive cleaning. These can be removed with full strength bleach followed by a general cleaner flushed with water. NOTE: Bleach should only contact the surface for no more than five minutes. On a matte finish, if you prefer, you can scrub with an abrasive cleaner.

Cigars and Cigarettes:
While Caromastone surfaces will not burn, should a lighted cigar or cigarette come in contact with the surface, it could leave a nicotine stain or scorch mark. Either of these can be removed by cleaning with an abrasive cleaner or buffing in a circular motion with a Scotch Brite® pad.

Simple Precautions:
Do not place hot pans directly on the surface. A trivet should always be used under heated appliances such as crock pots, electric frying pans, ECT. DO NOT USE YOUR SURFACE AS A CUTTING BOARD. Minor cuts and scratches can be repaired. Deep cuts will require the services of a professional, which is an extra expense. Strong acids such as oven cleaner, drain cleaners, paint stripper and toilet bowl cleaners should be used cautiously around Caromastone surfaces. Some of these items, when left on the surface, may cause whitening or other problems which may be difficult to remove.

Repairing Scratches:
For removing superficial scratches, rub in a circular motion a wet Scotch Brite® buffing pad until the scratches are removed. Clean thoroughly with soap and water and let dry. NOTE: Deep scratches can be removed by first carefully sanding lightly with 180 grit sandpaper followed by 220. Then rub with a wet Scotch Brite® pad in a circular motion to restore finish.

Kitchen Sinks and Vanities:
While kitchen sinks are the same material as all of Caromastone surface products, they require some additional care. The main thing to consider is to use common sense while using the product. Do not abuse the finish by throwing items into the bowls. This will require additional buffing to maintain the finish. Do not pour boiling water into a cold sink. FIRST, warm the bowl by running warm water into the bowl. Maintain the surface the same as all other surfaces.

While Caromastone surfaces are extremely durable, it can be damaged if abused or mistreated. Please carefully review these care and cleaning instructions.
